How to download and play Eclipse RSPS

Eclipse RSPS is a free custom RuneScape private server that opens on Friday 30 October 2026 at 18:00 UTC. This guide takes you from nothing installed to logged in, on Windows, macOS or Linux. It takes about five minutes, and you can do every step except the last one before launch day.

What you need

  • A Windows, macOS or Linux computer. Eclipse is played on desktop through The Realm launcher.
  • Java 8 or newer. The launcher is a Java file (.jar), so your computer needs Java to open it. If you already play another RuneScape private server, you almost certainly have it.
  • Nothing else. Eclipse is free to play: there is no fee and no subscription.

Step 1: Download The Realm launcher

Eclipse is one of the games on The Realm network, and The Realm launcher installs and updates all of them. Download it from the official link:

Download The Realm launcher (RealmLauncher.jar)

Only download the launcher from this link, the Eclipse Play page or the Eclipse Discord. A launcher from anywhere else is not ours.

Step 2: Open the launcher

  • Windows: double-click RealmLauncher.jar. If nothing happens, or it opens as a zip archive, run Jarfix once. It repairs the .jar file association so Java opens the launcher, then double-click it again.
  • macOS: double-click the file. If macOS says it cannot be opened, right-click it and choose Open, or allow it under System Settings, Privacy and Security.
  • Linux: run java -jar RealmLauncher.jar from the folder you saved it in.

Step 3: Find Eclipse

The launcher lists every game on The Realm. Eclipse has its own card. Until launch it is marked as opening on 30 October, so you can install everything early and simply wait for the gates to open.

Step 4: Press Play on launch day

From 18:00 UTC on 30 October 2026, select Eclipse and press Play. The launcher downloads the game client and keeps it up to date from then on, so you never have to download a new client by hand.

Step 5: Create your account

Pick your name and a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, choose your game mode and step into the eclipse. The economy is brand new on launch day, so everyone starts on equal footing.

After you log in

  • Vote every 12 hours on the Vote page, then type ::claim in game to collect your rewards.
  • Join the community on the Eclipse Discord, where updates, events and giveaways are announced first.
  • Keep learning with the other Eclipse guides.

Troubleshooting

  • The launcher will not open on Windows. Run Jarfix once (Step 2). If it still does nothing, install or update Java and try again.
  • Eclipse is not playable yet. Before 18:00 UTC on 30 October the Eclipse card is a countdown. That is expected.
  • Something else. Open a ticket from the Support page or ask in the Discord. Staff will never ask for your password.
